Even though it's also a track car, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante is excellent at drag racing. Its instant engine response and quick launch have bested many rivals. But today, it faces a rare breed of hypercar, the McLaren P1.
Since you see it all the time on social media, it's easy to underestimate just how special this car is. They used to go for a bit over a million dollars back in 2013, but McLaren only built 375 units out of their secret labs in England. If we remember correctly, this SP1 unit was one of their prototypes as well, which makes it even rarer.

Drag racing is a tricky business. You've got variables such as power, weight, torque, and traction. There are instances in which supercars can be faster than their hyper cousins, even though they're more expensive. However, we should first look at the specs and see if the Huracan has any hope here.

The P1's rear wheels are motivated by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, which is combined with an electric motor to deliver more than 900 horsepower. The carbon fiber construction isn't just for show, as the McLaren is somehow more advanced yet also slightly lighter than its Italian cousin.

Launched a couple of years ago, the Huracan Performante Spyder's pricing starts at about $324,900, so you could say it's at least three times cheaper than its rival. Of course, it's not three times slower, but the V10 engine only produces 640 horsepower, and this results in a lower top speed. Sure, it's got AWD for a better launch, but the power-to-weight ratio is almost 50% higher for the McLaren.

After a quick but insightful narration from Tiff, Lovecars' drag race gives us the result we were expecting to see: a yellow hypercar in the lead. That said, the Huracan didn't embarrass itself.
