McLaren P1 Aiming for Nurburgring Lap Record

Now that Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche have given us their hypercars, everybody wants to know how fast the LaFerrari, 918 Spyder and P1 can go round the Nurburgring. It seems like the Mac will be the first to lap the Nordschleife in an official way, with McLaren having already set a goal for the lap time.

This sits at 6:33.26 and if the P1 manages to achieve it, it will blow the production car ‘Ring record by 15 seconds a light year. The current record belongs to the Radical SR8, which managed to go through the Green Heel in six minutes and forty eight seconds.

The crew over at Jalopnik managed to get their hands on the McLaren internal presentation slide from the gallery below, which shows the aforementioned time. They asked McLaren about the numbers and it seems that this is the target the company has set for the P1.

Before we end, we’d just like to remind you that Porsche wants us to believe that its 918 Spyder will make the P1, as well as the LaFerrari, look like mere toys.
