McLaren MP4-12C, Unveiled this Week?

Although not officially confirmed by McLaren Automotive, a rumor surrounding the unveiling of a new supercar, the McLaren MP4-12C, surfaced over the weekend. The car is to be presented, carmagazine.co.uk says, this Wednesday, with first deliveries to take place as soon as 2011.

Designed by Gordon Murray, as was the McLaren F1, the MP4-12C will be the first of a series of three models to be launched at a later date. As we reported earlier this year, the MP4-12C, also known as the P11, will be powered by an AMG 6.2l V8, developing some 450 horsepower.

Thanks to it, the car will go naught to sixty-to in 4.6 seconds and will top at 195 mph (312 km/hour).

Ron Dennis, the man behind McLaren Automotive, wants to sell some 1,000 units of the P11 in the first year of production. By 2015, the company plans of reaching an output capacity of 4,000 vehicles a year, including the P11, a follow-up to the McLaren F1 and an under 100,000 pound model.

The new McLaren will be assembled in a new facility, to be built near the existing one in Woking. Plans for the erection of the new facility were submitted by McLaren in late May. Production output will be around 20 cars per day.

As for the price of this supercar, nothing is yet set. Don't expect it to be cheap, as initial estimates place the MP4-12C at around 150,000 pounds.

As we said, rumor is the car will be presented on Wednesday, so keep an eye out for further developments.
