McLaren MP4-12C Starts American Tour

Having been presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and enjoying quite a bit of attention from the attending public, the newest goodie in the supercar segment, the McLaren MP4-12C, has decided to go on tour.

The car will be displayed, starting September 1, at several of the McLaren dealerships in the US. The first stop will be at the Pfaff Automotive Partner, McLaren’s retail partner in Toronto, Ontario, followed by other McLaren partners on the continent.

“Each retailer on this tour will be registering customer interest in the 12C and it’s clear from the feedback at the McLaren Beverly Hills event that our prospects in North America really understand our brand and are looking forward to the launch of McLaren Automotive,” Tony Joseph, McLaren Automotive’s regional director for North America said in a statement.

“We look forward to delivering a great range of unique, innovative sports cars to customers in North America, with a network of McLaren Automotive retailers committed to delivering an ownership experience every bit as good and revolutionary as the 12C itself.”

The list of places where the car can be admired includes Lake Forest Sportscars (Chicago), Park Place (Dallas), Miller Motorcars (Greenwich), Price Family Dealerships (San Francisco) and Dew Luxury Motor Cars (Tampa Bay).

The MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8L V8 twin-turbo engine producing 600 horsepower, mated to a 7-speed Seamless Shift dual-clutch gearbox (SSG). The supercar can accelerate from naught to sixty in the low 3-second range with a top speed of more than 200 mph (321 km/h). Sales of the supercar will begin in spring 2011
