US aftermarket developer AWE Tuning has recently released a custom exhaust for the McLaren MP4-12C and MP4-12C Spider and the company is now sharing its work with us.
The company has released two videos that showcase their Mac in action. The AWE Tuning McLaren MP4-12C exhaust allows the 3.8-liter unit to deliver an extra 46 hp and 61 lb-fr (83 Nm) of torque, using the stock ECU map. The company explains that it has used a world-first technology for the catalysts, which receives an important part of the credit for the respectable output bump. However, when talking about the stock exhaust, while the 3.8-liter twin-turbo setup of the McLaren MP4-12C offers an aggressive sound when you’re stepping on it, as we found out during our MP4-12C and MP4-12C Spider test drive, the voice of the engine is less than inspirational when you’re driving in a normal manner.
As for AWE Tuning’s exhaust, judging by the soundtrack of the videos below, this comes to make the aural experience meaner when the driver is abusing the throttle.
