The company has released two videos that showcase their Mac in action. The AWE Tuning McLaren MP4-12C exhaust allows the 3.8-liter unit to deliver an extra 46 hp and 61 lb-fr (83 Nm) of torque, using the stock ECU map. The company explains that it has used a world-first technology for the catalysts, which receives an important part of the credit for the respectable output bump. You can find the full explanation in the release below (PDF file).
However, when talking about the stock exhaust, while the 3.8-liter twin-turbo setup of the McLaren MP4-12C offers an aggressive sound when you’re stepping on it, as we found out during our MP4-12C and MP4-12C Spider test drive, the voice of the engine is less than inspirational when you’re driving in a normal manner.
As for AWE Tuning’s exhaust, judging by the soundtrack of the videos below, this comes to make the aural experience meaner when the driver is abusing the throttle.
