McLaren has announced that it will be beginning production of a very limited run of its MP4-12C, called the Can-Am. First shown off in concept form at Pebble Beach, earlier this year, it was announced for production just ahead of the US F1 Grand Prix.
Official information says that they will be limited to a small production run of 30 cars, each costing €470,000 / $595,000 /£375,000. The car itself is based on the 12C GT3 race car, and the power of the 3.8-liter V8 engine has now been raised to the 630 hp mark, thus making this the most powerful road-going modern McLaren.

Setting the car apart from lesser models will be an aero package which increases its downforce by 30%, and everything made out of carbon fiber, including the door mirrors, all sorts of covers, vents, intakes, the sills and the huge rear wing all hint at the GT3 version of the car, yet are different from that as well.

Inside it will get an FIA-approved roll cage, racing seats with six-point harnesses, as well as the same steering wheel as the racing car. McLaren will not be creating a one-make series, as it may have been thought, when they annouced this car, and since it`s not homologated for any kind of use, it may be that kind of car, like the Pagani Zonda R, which is awesome, yet you can’t really do anything with it.
