We are still a few years away from the moment McLaren will replace the 720S, a model that was introduced in 2017. However, with the next Super Series model currently under development, the independent rendering we have here helps us imagine the future model.
The 720S has already pushed the boundaries of the supercar segment in terms of sheer performance, as well as Grand Touring abilities, so the expectations for its successor are sky-high. For the moment, we'll focus on the styling department since this digital effort makes for a stunning proposal.

You can easily recognize plenty of now-traditional styling elements of the Woking automaker, with the front end being the best example of this. The design nods to the Speedtail are obvious, but we can also see the DNA of other models here, such as the 720S itself. As for the visible pushrod suspension, this speaks of the vehicle's performance.

As for the rear end, the lack of the mesh grille we've been accustomed to is perhaps the only notable departure from the usual style of the carmaker.

Nevertheless, the overall appearance of the machine suggests a styling evolution that would position this proposal closer to the hypercar segment, which is occupied by McLaren machines belonging to the company's Ultimate Series, like the said Speedtail.

McLaren design references aside, this project captures the imagination with the interpretation of the vehicle's upper side, which bets on the Tensegrity card - relying on tensile force, this is the design principle that makes those artistic "floating" structures built from beams and strings appear surreal.

Such a styling philosophy is something you can expect from an experienced figure such as Marco Filippo Batavia, the man behind the rendering. We're talking about the lead designer of Italian company Saes Getters, whose products range from memory alloys and dispensers to gas purifiers and functional chemicals.

As for the tech side of the machine that will replace the 720S, it will certainly use a gas-electric powetrain, with McLaren having expressed the intention to hybridise all Sports and Super Series models by 2025. Until the Brits release more details on the matter, though, we'll remind you that only a few months separate us from the introduction of its next Sports Series model.

Named Artura, it will ride on an all-new carbon fiber monocoque chassis built with hybridization in mind and featuring an also-new twin-turbo V6.
