McLaren F1 Successor Testing Kicks Off Ahead of 2014 Launch

McLaren has been working on a successor for the F1, and rumor has it it will be a true game-changer, not just a more powerful version of the MP4-12C, but an all-new model that’s expected to debut in 2014. The project is know internally as the Mega Mac and it is rumored to be limited to 500 units, with a price tag between £350,000 and £400,000 in the UK, a bargain compared to Bugatti or Koenigsegg’s offerings, but not exactly cheap.
Now a new AutoCar report comes with the extra bit of info that the automaker has already started testing the hypercar that will debut in 2014. This took place on some closed roads in Spain last month on closed roads before it was moved to Germany for other testing phases. Sounds like we’ll see some ‘Ring photos soon.

the Mega Mac will offer about 800 hp from its 5.0-liter V8 engine that is being developed in conjunction with Ricardo and will be coupled to a Graziano seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 500 units scheduled to be made will be built at a rate of about two or three per week over the span of three-four years.

Most cars supercars have a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h), but the F1 successor is supposed to hit this in only 20 seconds. Just imagine what kind of brute this is!
