Now that the McLaren MP4-12C has found its place on the market, it’s time for the British carmaker to look to the next development, the long-awaited F1 successor, a vehicle that uses the P12 codename.
The vehicle has recently been rendered on the cover of this month’s edition of the Thai Car Magazine, with the virtual creation looking as a reasonable proposal - the supercar’ s styling is being supervised by Frank Stephenson (the company’s head of design) and is expected to use a futuristic approach.

The P12 will use a carbon fiber construction, just like the MP4-12C and this will allow it to be both rigid and lightweight - it is expected to tip the scales at 1,140 kg (2,513 lbs). The vehicle could be powered by a reworked version of the automaker’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that would deliver 800 hp, which is expected to be assisted by a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) that could develop an extra 120 hp.

The McLaren P12 is expected to be released in 2014, so we still have a lot to wait until we’ll get to meet the British creation.
