McLaren Confirms MP4-25 Launch on January 29

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One Team have officially announced the date for the unveiling of their 2010 challenger. It will happen on January 29th, only two days before the official testing season kicks off in Valencia.

Unlike rivals Ferrari, the Woking-based organization have not changed the official designation of their 2010 car. Therefore, the McLaren MP4-25 will be unveiled before the media in the UK, with the location to be announced by the British team in the upcoming few days.

McLaren's announcement comes only one day after Ferrari also confirmed they will showcase their 2010 challenger before the Valencia testing next month. Ferrari will display their 281 model on January 28th, 3 days after Petronas Mercedes GP will do the same at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Unterturkheim.

Finally, the team everyone believes will complete the quad aces in the 2010 Formula One championship, namely Red Bull Racing, announced they'll skip the first 3 days of testing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in order to give their engineers more time to develop the RB6 for next season.

The car launch show on January 29th will also mark another important event in the life of McLaren Mercedes. It will be the first time when Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button will meet as McLaren drivers. As the reigning world champion signed the McLaren deal weeks after the season finale at Abu Dhabi, both him and Hamilton have been on vacation in the last month or so.

McLaren will attempt to return to greatness in the Formula One championship next year, following a disappointing campaign in 2009. Although recording two wins last year, the British outfit had to settle for a struggling 3rd place in the manufacturers' classification, more than 100 points behind winners Brawn GP.
