McLaren 720S Longtail Looks Amazing, Has Open Rear End

Some renderings are more important than others and the pixel play that has brought us here today is among those that deserve one's undivided attention. The image portrays a McLaren 720S Longtail and it serves more than just one purpose.

For one thing, the Woking automotive producer is working on an LT model based on the 720S, which might receive the 750 Longtail designation. So this rendering can offer us a bit of a preview for that near-hypercar (yes, it will pack that sort of performance), while the spyshots in the gallery above show the prototypes for the upcoming toy.

Then there's the tuning relevance of this pixel game. Sure, elongating the posterior of the vehicle adds high-speed stability , with the latest production example of this coming from the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. But this also changes the game on the visual level, which is why many aftermarket developers come up with such conversions.

So we might just see an aero kit exploiting the eye candy delivered by this rendering, from the "tail" but to the open rear deck - the latter also comes with more than one purpose, as it brings cooling benefits, while allowing one to stare into the engine bay of the Macca.

Of course, there are multiple aero kits for the British supercar out there, with examples coming from companies such as Novitec. However, none of these seem to bring a transformation as dramatic as the one seen here.

As Captain Obvious would report, such changes require thorough aerodynamic testing, so a package of this kind can't be developed overnight. Then again, given the popularity of the 720S, the result would probably be in great demand.

PS: Keep in mind to use the swipe feature of the post below to enjoy a second angle, one that might even sweeter than the first.
