Supercar crashes come in all shapes and sizes, with the one we have here, which involves a McLaren 720S, being one of the most ridiculous we've seen in a while.
According to the local media, the Macca and the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe were speeding down a highway in Thailand (between Bangkok and Pattaya). Nevertheless, as the two approached a queue caused by roadworks, they were forced to suddenly come to a halt.

That was the moment when a Chevrolet pickup truck that was tailing the two failed to stop in time. The driver of the Chevy seemed to lock the brakes, which brought two issues - the man couldn't change direction due to the front wheels being locked, while the rear wheels freezing cause the car to go sideways.

Thus, the pickup truck ended up hitting the McLaren 720S from behind, while sideways, hence the quotes we used in the title above. Alas, another vehicle was involved in the accident, as the truck also clipped a Toyota that was driving on the outside lane.

Judging by what we can see in the dashcam video portraying the accident, which was captured from a vehicle behind those involved, it looks like the Chevrolet driver was going too fast (perhaps he was trying to play with the two performance cars). Also, the C63 AMG switching lanes in a rush could've masked the McLarens, determining to the pickup truck guy to misjudge the deceleration maneuver. Nevertheless, the Benz did manage to avoid any accident, passing the stopped Macca and exiting the frame.

This crash could've ended much worse

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the accident we have here and here's to hoping that aspiring racing drivers use this failed stunt as an example of why the rules of the highway code should be followed.
