By now, anybody with even a remote interest in the hooning realm is familiar with the World's Greatest Drag Race. And we are now here to discuss the eight edition of the sprinting battle.
This time around, the pedal-happy folks over at Motor Trend have brought together a lineup that ranges from the Honda Civic Type R to the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye, with the latter packing more than twice the muscle of the first.
As for the big boy league, this is where we have the McLaren 720S and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Oh, and let's not forget the Lamborghini Huracan Performante and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, which is here in both high- and low-wing trim.
However, the shenanigan isn't limited to the quarter-mile run. Sure, the 1,320 feet sprint does take place (it couldn't be omitted), but the adventure also includes a half-mile brawl.
This involves a few changes in the lineup, which you'll get to check out in the piece of footage below. However, the YouTube video doesn't involve the actual half-mile race, with this requiting an MT subscription to watch.
Now, some people might be all that happy about us delivering the following numbers here, but since not all of you are ready to subscribe, we can throw two spoilers from the half-mile battle.
For one thing, the McLaren once again topped the Porsche, but this time around there was one car between them.
Oh, and as for the 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye, this came in last, with a trap speed of 153.3 mph.
Then again, these are just numbers and the cars we have here deliver such a strong emotional punch that they are hardly defined by just figures, so the thrills of watching them race is greater than simply checking out the podium.
