When McLaren introduced the 720S, everybody expected the replacement of the 650S to be a land-to-land missile. Even so, the Woking animal managed to sweep us off our feet with its drag racing potential. For instance, the 720S is so good at the sprinting game that it can take on contemporary supercars that have been taken serious trips to the gym.
For today, we'll focus on how the Macca fairs against modded Porsche 911 Turbo S beasts. Zooming in on this matter, we've brought along a piece of footage that shows a stock incarnation of the mid-engine machine battling a pair of 991.1 examples packing hefty mods.

Now, we've driven the 991.1 Porsche 911 Turbo S in factory mode, with the 560 horsepower rear-engined toy packing an uber-impressive punch. However, the pair we've got here had been gifted with full bolt-ons.

We're talking about aftermarket goodies such as custom exhausts and intakes, methanol injection systems, custom turbochargers and others.

The clip at the bottom of the page allows us to see the Macca duking it out with a black Porscha, which delivers 750 horses to the wheels, meaning its crankshaft output sits at well over 800 ponies.

However, the black Neunelfer was just the starter. As for the main course, this came in the form of a Yellow Turbo S. The slab of Germany allows the one behind the wheel to control 850 hp at the wheels, so its crank output probably goes past 950 horses.

And the fact that the Zuffenhausen weapons come in all-paw form, while the McLaren is a rear-wheel drive toy didn't exactly help the 720S.

Nevertheless, the Brit raced the black Porsche once, while duking it out with the yellow 911 on two occasions. And since the clip documenting the action includes all the numbers you need, from the specs of the supercars to their 1.4-mile performance, you'll get a complete take on the matter.
