McLaren 720S Drag Races Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Driver Ruins the Day

The McLaren 720S doesn't just come with the kind of firepower that allows it to dominate the supercar realm in terms of straight-line performance but it also packs computing power that gifts it an uber-efficient Launch Control or a cool little feature called Variable Drift Control, which allows the driver to set the maximum slip angle achieved before the electronic nannies kick in.

However, no electronics can save the car from a driver that isn't up to the task. When we usually say this, the shenanigan involves a crash. Fortunately, the only thing that was crashed in the adventure we're here to discuss was the Mclaren's drag racing success.

You see, the piece of footage at the bottom of the page brings together the Woking animal and a Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

The two supercars met on an airfield, which meant they had all the space in the world to stretch their mechanical legs. And the battle that saw them being thrown at each other involved three runs - two came with a standing start, while one used a rolling start.

Well, let's just say that the one behind the wheel of the Macca kept getting off the line late - the drag races used a human Christmas Tree.

Towards the end of the clip, we get to see the McLaren driver complaining about the grip and explaining that using Launch Control led to the rear tires spinning. However, this doesn't explain the man's reaction time.

Regardless of the said fault, which might just be staged (after all, we've seen the McLaren 720S winning tons of drag races, which makes this one different), the spectacle of the battle is here.

Oh, and in case any number aficionado frets, there's no need to do so, as the piece of footage below has all the specs you need.
