This friendly fire stunt we have here isn't just hypothetical, with the speed fanatics over at autocar having taken both to the track.

And we also have to note this is one of the first comparison tests involving the track monster that is the McLaren Senna. This is a key aspect, since, for instance, independent dyno tests have shown that the 720S' official output figure is an understatement, with the crankshaft output of the machine actually sitting north of 750 hp.

Since the Senna packs an even mightier incarnation of the 720S' twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, we can't be sure of its real-world hp number.

The 720 hp supercar and the 800 hp circuit special were subjected to a 0-100-0 mph test, with their intermediate figures being taken into account. And no, we're not willing to throw any extra spoilers at you, with the one we dropped in the title being enough.

We can tell you that the 720S required 2.98 seconds to complete the 0 to 60 mph sprint, while the Senna needed 3.14 seconds for the task.

Of course, when such test are performend, one has to ask about the rubber factor. Well, the 720S came with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, the Senna features Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Rs.

Interestingly, this is the first episode of a four-part serious, which means we'll get to see how the two Maccas handle the ultimate test, namely the one involving lap times.
