When a McLaren 675 Longtail and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS get out to play on the Nurburgring, you can expect plenty of sparks to fly (Carousel, anybody?). As for what could surprise you during such a run, the list could be topped by a SEAT Leon Cupra leading the chase.
Such an apparently bizarre three-car Green Hell sprint is displayed in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, with the 675LT following the Rennsport Neunelfer, which gets to drive behind the Cupra.
So what is a hot hatch doing in front of these two track specials on the Nordschleife? Well, we're pretty sure the Leon in question is the car of a Ring Wolf who likes to call himself XthiloX.
Since most of you are unfamiliar with the Nurburgring fauna description mentioned above, we'll explain that we introduced the Ring Wolf label for drivers who have turned lapping the Ring into a religion. These guys not only know each and every inch of the 12.9-mile (20.8 km) track, but they also drive hot hatches that pack specific tuning and are usually the front-wheel-drive kind.
If this is indeed the Cupra we expect it to be, we're dealing with a manic compact that can go round the Nurburgring in around 7:30. It mixes its 340 hp powertrain mod with a KW Clubsport three-way adjustable suspension that features a custom setup, as well as with Brembo stopping hardware packing special pads.
Given the fact that the Porsche 911 GT3 RS PDK officially needs 7:20 to go from Bridge to Gantry, it seems only normal for a driver attending a tourist day to fly at a similar pace with the said Cupra.
Woking's 675 is even quicker than the rear-engined coupe, but, once again, the motivation and risks involved in lapping the Green Hell att full pace (don't forget the traffic) mean the lap we see in the video below isn't strange.
And since the 675 Longtail was used as the camera car, the clip offers a perfect view of the run, albeit lacking the aural might that could've been delivered by the Zuffenhausen animal.
