McLaren 650S MSO Debuting at Goodwood

As if owning a McLaren isn’t already special enough, McLaren Special Operations is creating 50 bespoke versions of the all-new McLaren 650S. The limited-edition MSO 650S will make its big debut in Spider form at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, but it will also be offered as a Coupe when it goes on sale later this year.

Inspired by the MSO 650S Coupe Concept that was revealed in China back in April, the production version of the MSO 650S is distinguishable by its carbon fiber rocker panel “side blades,” the carbon fiber rear bumper with a more pronounced diffuser and the 10-spoke, diamond-cut super lightweight alloy wheels.

McLaren says these wheels help shave about two pounds from the 650S’ curb weight, not including the titanium wheel bolts.

The MSO 650S will be offered in just three colors: Papaya Shark (orange), Agrigan Black (a metallic black featured on the MSO 650S Coupe Concept with red flakes in the paint) and Sarigan Quartz (a silver hue with a gold tint). At Goodwood, the production MSO 650S will debut in this latter color.

Inside, the MSO 650S is covered with a mix of black leather and Alcantara, and there are carbon fiber accents on the steering wheel, center stack and door panels as well as gloss black accents on the gauge cluster bezel and HVAC vents. The sill plates are also made of carbon fiber, and welcome the driver and passenger with the McLaren Special Operations logo.

Each car will also come with a matching weekend bag constructed of many of the same materials as the cabin right down to the carbon black handles.

How much does the added exclusivity cost on the already-rare McLaren 650S? The MSO 650S Coupe will have a starting price of £252,500 (converting to around € 314,406 and $428,723), while the MSO 650S Spider starts at £272,500 (or around € 339,311 and $462,664).

At Goodwood, the MSO 650S Spider will be on display at the Supercar Paddock, and visitors can also see it in motion during the Hill run.
