When McLaren returned to building road cars back in 2011, drag racing was hardly a priority for the Brits. Nevertheless, their supercars ended up becoming some of the sharpest straight-line fighting machines on the street. This is all thanks to a mix between their lightweight construction and their overly capable twin-turbo V8, dual-clutch powertrains, as well as their excellent aero. And even if we look at the 570S, which is a member of the company's Sport Series, we'll notice brilliant drag racing results.
We've shown you plenty of 570S brawls to date and we are now back in the game. This time around, we've brought along a street race, one that sees the Macca duking it out with a Cadillac CTS-V Wagon.

Of course, the CTS-V we have here has left its factory setup behind, with the family machine having hit the gym hard. Unfortunately for the car's drag racing performance, its motor works with a six-speed manual.

What are the tech details of these two velocity beasts?

The V8 heart of the Caddy now delivers 820 hp and 879 lb-ft of twist, with these being the numbers at the wheels, hence our (slightly optimistic) crankshaft output estimate in the title.

Since we mentioned the fact that the Macca we have here is modded, we'll let you know that the thing packs a custom exhaust, along with a stage two tune. As such, the V8 supercar now allows its driver to play with about 590 hp at the rear wheels.

The scale footprint difference between these two velocity tools can't be ignored, with the GM machine being a full 1,400 lbs heavier than the British supercar.

P.S.: If you happen to be in a hurry, or simply aren't in the mood for the YouYube background story, you can jump to the 7:20 point of the clip for the racing action.
