There you are, being a truck driver, doing truck driver things… when suddenly a McLaren 650S supercar comes out of nowhere and crashes hard. That doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it's got the makings of a great video.
The car in question is a McLaren 650S Spider in orange. It's a cold, wet day somewhere in Poland, not ideal driving conditions for a supercar that produces 650 horsepower and only sends it to the rear wheels.
The accident took place on Friday, March 13th, on the Polish S7 highway that links Warsaw to Krakow. This is one of only two models in the country, so identifying it is rather easy, as it participated in the Battle Royale 2014 drag races last year (video below).
The moment the crash happens is almost non-perceivable, but it seems like the McLaren may have experienced a phenomenon called aquaplaning, where the extra-wide tires basically fly over the water instead of gripping the road. In a matter of moments, the 650S is turned from an amazing machine to a heap of junk.
Extensive front end damage is sustained, especially on the left side that first hit the road's safety barrier. It's very easy to be critical of a driver and say that he doesn't know what he's doing. But that's not really the case here. The real way in which this accident could have been avoided is if he'd not driven the supercar in such conditions.
