The footage below allows us to see what can be described as a virtual drag race between the two. So while the two McLarens haven’t been filmed in an actual battle, each of the cars was subjected to a serious acceleration episode, with the speedometers being filmed.
The footage brings us a sprint from standstill to 124 mph (200 km/h) and the two are extremely close. Then again, this shouldn’t come as such a surprise.
Let's talk figures. McLaren figures, that isFor one thing, the two Macs are extremely close in terms of the power to weight ratio. While the 650S offers 2.4 kg per PS, the 570S falls just 0.2 kg per PS behind.
Sure, the 650S wins each battle, but the difference can be amusing, depending on which car you’re looking from - this is true for sprints of up to the 124 mph velocity mentioned above.
As we climb past that level, the distance between the two Woking creations becomes greater. Once again, you shouldn’t be too surprised with these results.
Let’s take the 0 to 186 mph (300 km/h) sprint of the two supercars, for instance. The 650S needs at least 23.7 seconds to complete this, while the 570S will require 29.3 seconds for the same task.
P.S.: In case you have the impression there’s some background noise disturbing the agitation of the video, don't worry. That is probably the sound of 12C owners fretting in the background.
