2013 is a very special year for McLaren, as the British company is celebrating 50 years since it was founded by New Zealander Bruce McLaren. To mark this event, the sportscar manufacturer has announced the introduction of limited edition “50” 12C, in both coupe and spider versions.
Limited to only 50 examples each for a total of 100 examples, the special editions will come with a number of unique features and several performance enhancements developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO).
Visual updates include a revised front bumper with carbon fiber lower section, black McLaren F1-inspired badge, unique 19 and 20-inch 50 Ultra Lightweight wheels painted in Satin Black and standard carbon ceramic brakes. Cockpit modification include a full leather upgrade, subtle branding for the carbon fiber sill panel and floor mats, and a “50” anniversary plate on the driver’s door.
The “50” 12C McLarens will be available in three exterior colors - Carbon Black, Supernova and McLaren Orange - and will be presented to their customers with a monogrammed car cover, limited edition key, carbon fiber key box and a special print signed by McLaren Automotive design director Frank Stephenson. In the UK, the McLaren 50 12C will cost £196,000, while the Spider will be priced at £215,500.
