McConaughey Has Interstellar-Like Moment in New Lincoln Ad

Lincoln doesn't seem to have been bothered in the least bit by the jokes Matthew McConaughey ads have been subjected to. In fact, they've made even more of them and this latest one is a little bit different, in a good way.

For one, it's not shot in the city, which will probably attract a few suburban buyers. But the cinematography is clearly pointing in another direction, at McConaughey's hit movie Interstellar. We think anybody who's watched it will notice the abundant lens flare effects are the same and even the music is similar.

This latest chapter in Lincoln's advertising campaign is about savoring the moment, about knowing that it's never going to last for that long, like a the beautiful red light at sunset. And any journey, be it to another planet at the edge of the universe or just a drive though a canyon, is about the journey.

The car at the center of the ad is the MKC crossover SUV, Lincoln cheapest car at $33,100. Some may say that's just a Ford Escape that you pay $10,000 extra for and we agree. But isn't the Audi Q3 a VW Tiguan with a premium price? Clearly, the MKC is a beautiful car and McConaughey is a great actor, so let's leave it at that and cut Lincoln some slack. It we really think about it, the MKC might be a better buy than the Mercedes GLA.

Editor's note: He still looks like he's rolling boogers. Sorry to ruin it for you...

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
