Everybody knows that the M2 doesn't have as much power as it could have because BMW was afraid it would walk over the M4. Today, we are going to look at what happens when a private company decides to take things into its own hands and install some cool upgrades.
The Germans at Mcchip-DKR used to be about just some simple ECU remaps. However, they steadily upgraded into full-fledged performance junkies that can create the race car of your dreams. Most of the times, the things they come up with center around kits from other companies, but the one for the M2 is their own creation. It's got more grunt than the RS3, the A45 and even the M4, all while using one turbocharger.

The smallest M model of them all now features a turbine modified by Mcchip, which delivers more boost. To help the 3-liter breathe easier, it's been equipped with a 200-cell cat and new downpipes.

Of course, everything is tied together with an ECU remap that ensures total output is increased from 370 HP and up to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque with overboost to 445 HP and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque.

If that's not enough and you don't want to worry about a loss of power on a hot day, Mcchip has also created an intercooler which can be added to the M2 for a total output of 450 HP and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque. If there's ever been a Mcchip tuning project that needed a video, this would be the one.

Stage 3 costs €8,090 including the installation, which can only be done by Mcchip. You could buy a second-hand Miata for that kind of money, but the M2 is the most respected Bimmer of the moment, so it's worth investing into it.
