Even though back in July we were reporting that Dieter Zetsche is actually OK with losing the US luxury car sales in 2013, it seems that the Daimler Chairman and holder of the most magnificent mustache in the automotive industry was actually just playing it cool.
Obviously a reader of Sun Tzu's Art of War, Zetsche probably though that it's always better to downplay your clear advantage over your competitor when you have the upper hand.
Reading into the latest official sales numbers of Mercedes-Benz and the current title holder BMW, it seems that the Swabians are all over the Bavarians in November as well, with their numbers advantage having no way of being outclassed during the month of December.
Mercedes-Benz sold 34,376 units in November, while BMW only managed to clear 31,752 cars of their lots. Year-to-date sales discrepancies between the two are even bigger, with Mercedes-Benz selling 279,501 cars, quite a bit more than BMW's 271,891 units.
If BMW doesn't pull the same under-the-belt strategy from last year, when it was also being led before December, we can see Mercedes-Benz taking back the US luxury car sales crown.
