Mazdaspeed3 Crash: Hot Hatch Goes Airborne, Lands Face-Forward

Hot hatches are supposed to be amongst the safest go-fast vehicles. First of all, because they have less power than sportscars (with some exceptions, of course) and then because most of them are front-wheel-drive.
Oh wait. We’ve forgotten about issues such as understeer, lift-off oversteer and torque steer. We don’t know which one of the three (if any) was the cause the led to the situation you see in the adjacent image, but we can tell you this: a teenager managed to stick his Mazdaspeed3/Mazda 3 MPS (maybe the answer lies in the name of the car) into the ground in Oklahoma.

The local news reports tells us that “the SUV struck the wall while exiting onto Seventh Street and then went airborne”. Of course, it could have always been a cheap SUV with FWD, but it’s not, it’s what we said it is.

Thankfully, the driver was wearing his seatbelt and managed to walk away from the crash unharmed - this should be a good lesson people.
