Mazda Zoom-Zooms October Sales

Mazda recently announced that it recorded an increase by 7 percent in October sales when compared to 2007, with a retail volume of 27,200 units. The Japanese carmaker says this is “the second highest October volume in company history,” with 307,000 vehicles sold in European markets in the first ten months of this year. These figures reveal a 17 percent increase when compared to the first 10 months of 2007, Mazda said in a press statement.

Generally, Zoom-Zoom achieved greater sales in 17 European countries in October, with no less than six markets setting new sales records. Russia is by far the top country when it comes to Mazda sales, with 6,200 delivered vehicles and an increase by 29 percent in comparison with October 2007. Austria comes second with 1,700 units (+70 percent) and Italy with 1,600 cars (+11 percent).

Belgium and Luxembourg brought the highest sales growth, with 133 percent more units delivered in October 2008 when compared to the same month of 2007. Mazda says this is the highest October volume of sales in Belgium since 1994.

“In the UK and Spain, Mazda achieved its highest October market shares ever, estimated at 2.0 and 1.3 percent respectively. Portugal set two October records: for retail volume at 530 vehicles, which is up 64 percent, and for an estimated market share of 2.4 percent. Croatia achieved its highest single-month sales volume in history, at 410 units, which is up 92 percent year-on-year,” Mazda described the market evolution in three major countries.

Zoom-zoom performed well in Slovenia too, with approximately 150 units sold in October 2008, a 69 percent increase from the same month of the previous year.
