No, this is not CGI, you're looking at a Mazda RX-8 that has actually had its engine compartment filled with a Cummins motor. To be fair, various parts of the 6BT engine actually sit outside the car.
How did anybody come up with such a contraption? Well, we believe the group of Irish gear heads behind this project decided to make friends with the oil-burning issues of the RX-8, which is why they went from Wankel to Cummins.

As one would expect from such an insane swap, the 5.9-liter six-pot that might just weight as much as the car itself, has been gifted with a monstrous turbo.

And since the weight distribution of this rear-wheel-drive animal is now ideal, the thing now has a new raison d'etre. To be more precise, this Mazda has been turned into a drift car.

We are kidding you not. In fact, pro drifter Chris Forsberg has recently showcased the project on his Facebook page, as you'll be able to notice in the first video below.

However, if you ask us, the most enticing clip is the one underneath it, since the slow-mo action showcases the locomotive side of this once-a-sportscar.

Who knows? Maybe the team behind the build simply became tired of waiting for Mazda to release the all-new Wankel motor we've all been expecting.

While we can't be sure of that, we need to tell you that this car now also has a nickname, with the thing wearing the Rx-Hate tag. And with all that torque (we do mean all of it), the rear tires of this Mazda are the first to feel that hate.

Come to think of it, we wonder why the Rx-Hate hasn't been the subject of a Roast-Me campaign yet. People should do that with their builds, you know...
