The Mazda RX8 will be put to sleep in summer 2012, but the car will give us its swan song before it goes away, as the carmaker has announced two final, Japanese Domestic Market-destined, special editions of the RX8, the SPIRIT R, based on the 6-speed manual model and the Type RS, which uses a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The vehicles come with a few exterior changes such as refreshed headlights, fog lights, taillights, red-finished brake calipers and special badges. The SPIRIT R uses Recaro bucket seats, as well as a black leather finish with contrasting red stitching. The vehicle rides on bronze-finished 19-inch lightweight alloy rims with 225/40 R19 tires.

As for the Type RS, this features synthetic leather and a black trimming, offering tech goodies such as tweaked suspension and brakes, as well as 18-inch lightweight alloy rims, wrapped in 225/45 R18 tires.

The Mazda RX8 SPIRIT R and Type RS models are scheduled to be released in Japan on November 24, with the automotive producer expecting to sell around 1,000 units.
