Mazda Names Director for the New European Fleet Operations

Just like other auto makers across the world, Mazda Motor is currently naming key persons in its management team in an effort to fight the financial crisis.

Although Mazda Motor Europe has recently brought a new COO, the Japanese car maker's move is going to be completed by the appointment of James Hopkins to the position of Director for the new European Fleet Operations. Hopkins was formerly  Fleet and Remarketing Director at Mazda Motors UK Ltd where he created a successful fleet business for the Japanese car manufacturer. But from now on, thanks to this well-deserved promotion, he will be reporting to Philip Waring, Chief Operating Officer.

More importantly, the initial task of the new European Fleet Operation team will be to target businesses in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium. Their main responsibility will be to grow pan-European relationships with leading leasing companies and large blue chip fleets.
“Everything is in place for an expansion of our corporate business in Europe,” said Philip Waring. “We have the most fuel-efficient, best-equipped and appealing Mazda line-up ever. Our fleet ace, Mazda6, is getting a powerful, highly fuel-efficient 2.2-litre turbo diesel. And now we have exactly the right person to lead this push – James Hopkins. He comes to this position with a strategy that has already proven very successful in the UK, and we are optimistic that new corporate sales channels will open up for the Mazda brand under his leadership,” he added.
