Japanese automakers like to play culture games in the rest of the world it seems. “Kuro” basically means black or dark, and Nissan has a Micra special edition named just that, as well as a Juke.
Now, Mazda is launching a special edition of the MX-5 called Kura in Britain, and it’s available with the 1.8-liter soft top model from £18,495, while the Roadster Coupe with a 2.0-liter sets you back £21,995.
Both come with the same sort of dark accent pieces - a Brilliant Black roof, black mirrors, gunmetal 17-inch alloy wheels. Sadly, there’s no matte black paint for the body like we wanted, as there’s a choice of three other colors Velocity Red Mica, Crystal White Pearlescent and Brilliant Black.
Inside, the MX-5 Kura gets Stone and Black heated leather seats, Stone leather door inserts, with contrasting red stitching, a silver interior deco panel with red accents, alloy pedals, premium floor mats with race inspired logo and climate control air-conditioning.
