Mazda Motor Europe Names New Vice President

The European division of Japanese manufacturer Mazda announced today that Martin Benders was named Vice President for European Sales Operations. Benders will take over responsibilities for the new position effective today, and will report to Chief Operating Officer, Philip J. Waring.

“I am delighted to have Martin Benders onboard as our new Vice President for Sales,”
Waring said in a release. “He has a well-deserved reputation in the motor industry for developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies that deliver outstanding results. He possesses the ability and experience to do an outstanding job managing our national sales company organization on a daily basis, and I am confident that he will be successful at maximizing our sales performance.”

Martin Benders, 58, has worked for Mazda since 1985, when he joined the company as Administration Manager for Mazda Australia. After this he has held various executive positions, including Regional Sales Manager and National Marketing Director, where he registered several important achievements with the company.

His most recent position was General Manager of the Global Marketing Division at Mazda headquarters in Japan. Benders is Australian by birth, while fluent in English and Dutch, and holds Bachelor and post-graduate degrees in Commerce from the University of Queensland (Brisbane).

Mazda Motor Europe has also appointed Hiroyuki Matsumoto as the new Vice President and General Manager of its R&D Centre in Germany last week. Norihiro Tomita, who has led Mazda’s R & D organization in Europe since May 2007, is moving to a new position as Programme Manager in Mazda’s Vehicle Development Division in Japan.
