Mazda Miata Powered by Corvette LS2 V8 Drag Racing

Oh, misses Miata, how you’ve changed over the years! But your charm and beauty from back in the day are not lost on the motorist who has a passion for drag racing. Weighing in at little more than a ton, the second generation MX-5 is a quick little so and so.
But for going fast in a straight line, it does have one major disadvantage, the fact that it only comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. That’s about a third of a modern small block, and turbos can only do so much.

But what if we take out that little lump and put in a massive Chevrolet LS2 engine. This 6-liter V8 is was the first of the last generation small blocks and was introduced in 2005 with the C6 Corvette. It produces 400 horsepower at 6,000 rmp and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque from 4,4000 rpm.

All that’s left now is to slap on some fresh rubber and watch it do the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds at 111.56 mph.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
