Mazda killed off their trademark Wankel rotary engine, along with the RX-8, which went out of production earlier this year. However, you can now buy a watch, which basically works on the same principle and is a stunning piece of watch-making witchcraft.
It is called the Experiment ZR012, and it is all there for you to see, as it is moving and doing its job of telling time. It does not feature the classical way to display hours and minutes, but it looks easy-enough to read, and instead of hands, it features Reuleaux triangles to point to the correct hour or minute.

The larger rotor is used for hours, while the smaller interior one is used for minutes. It is the combined effort of URWERK founders, Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei, who have teamed up with MB&F partners Maximilian Busser and Serge Kirknoff.

Sadly, as is most often the case with stunning pieces of craftsmanship, it is horrendously expensive, costing $119,500, and requiring a $35,000 deposit. Apparetnly, only 12 will ever be made, but those who can get their hands on one of these should really consider themselves very lucky indeed.

This is what it looks like in motion
