Mazda Launches MX-5 Revamped Website

Japanese carmaker Mazda has just announced that the fans of its two-seater sports car can now share their opinions and experiences on a revamped version of the MX-5 social networking website.

The new website has been completely re-engineered using Episerver-Related and Social Networking platforms and, according to Mazda, it is now one of the most innovative of its kind on the Internet.

The website’s membership lend a helping hand in designing the Internet forum, destined to reflect the joy of driving Mazda’s roadster. Its members are now able to contact the nearest MX-5 club, share photos and videos, organize drive events and rallies, and talk about their experiences in owning the roadster.

Originally launched in response to a growing and fanatical fan-base in 2001, the MX-5 website grew fast and now praises with having over 9,000 members globally.

Moreover, the MX-5 celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The Miata/MX-5 made its arrival on February 10, 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show as a fresh roadster, which sold globally for nearly 10 years, becoming one of the most successful Mazdas ever produced. The model also entered the Guinness Book of World Records with more than 850,000 units sold to date.

Mazda is currently showcasing the MX-5 Superlight concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show, a car that comes with no windscreen, as the manufacturer tries to reduce the overall weight of the car and thus improve performance and fuel efficiency.

The Superlight concept is powered by the same engine of the production version, namely a 1.8-liter unit developing 126 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 167 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.
