Mazda has issued two press releases announcing two separate recall campaigns.
The first of them targets all MY 2004-2006 B-Series pickup trucks with Takata driver's side frontal airbag inflators. According to the carmaker, the recall action mentioned above affects about 19,000 vehicles in the United States of America, Puerto Rico, and Saipan. Fortunately, there’s no report of any accident or injury involving Mazda-badged vehicles that are targeted by this recall.

Mazda will have to call back several models of its cars to change the defective Takata airbag inflators. According to the press release concerning this issue, the Japanese company will replace 442,266 driver-side airbag inflators, while 416,475 Mazda vehicles worldwide will get new passenger-side frontal airbag inflators.

The second recall issued by Mazda involves all CX-5 vehicles from Model Year 2013 to 2016. According to the safety report filed by the automaker with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the fuel filler tube could rupture during a rear collision, and it could potentially leak fuel in such cases.

Mazda wants to be sure it will not sell any units that need a recall, so they’ve issued a stop sale order on the CX-5 to address the problem as quickly as possible. Fortunately, there were no reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue targeted by the recall. Most likely, Mazda discovered this fault through internal testing and quality control.

As far as the CX-5 recall is concerned, the Japanese company has not specified how many cars it will have to fix. However, the press release announced the recall of all 2013-2016 CX-5 vehicles, which means that Mazda will have to repair hundreds of thousands of CX-5 SUVs worldwide.

The Japanese carmaker has not specified when it will begin its recall for the CX-5, or for its B-Series pickup trucks, among which you can count the B5-50, the Ford Ranger’s platform cousin, which is also being called back for issues with Takata parts.
