Mazda Europe Welcomes New President and CEO

It's not that we don't appreciate changes but when too many of them are made, the matter becomes quite confusing.

Thus, Mazda Motor Europe announces again another change in its management board. This time, it's about Jeffrey H. Guyton, age 42, who has been promoted to the position of President and CEO of the company. In addition, he has also been appointed as Managing Executive Officer of Mazda Motor Corporation. Guyton replaces James Muir who left the boat heading towards brighter horizons perhaps outside of Mazda. Because Muir quitted the Japanese car maker, Guyton had to occupy its new positions right away.

“Since Jeff joined the company, Mazda has experienced strong growth, sales volume increases and geographic expansion,” said Takashi Yamanouchi, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation. “During this period Jeff has played a pivotal role in Mazda’s European success and I am confident that under his leadership, Mazda will continue to prosper in the current difficult economic climate."

As for Muir himself, it seems that Mazda Motor Europe has no hard feelings regarding his leaving.

“We appreciate the contribution made by James Muir. Under his leadership, Mazda Motor Europe has reached new heights, and we wish him well for the future,” said Yamanouchi.

Jeffrey H. Guyton joined Mazda as General Manager of the Cost Planning Division at Mazda’s headquarters in Japan. He was appointed to the position of Vice President and CFO at Mazda Motor Europe in October 2003 and he has held this position until now. Guyton's past working experience includes a collaboration with Ford Motor Company.

Well, it seems it is very common nowadays that some people hold more than one position at the same time, while others are being kicked off. Judging by the many modifications made by Mazda Motor Europe lately, we might as well assume the Japanese car maker faces some problem in its European management board.
