The stunning Mazda 6 was recently revealed at the Moscow International Motor Show 2012, and was very well-received. We have already reported that Mazda officials are now considering a coupe version of the 6, as well as an all-wheel drive performance variant, somewhere along the lines of the old 6 MPS.
However, big cars are not the only ones to capture the interest of Mazda officials, as it’s a small car which is now drawing the most attention, within the company. According to autonews.com, the Japanese manufacturer may stop selling the 2 completely, in the US, despite the fact that it is due for replacement in 2014, with an all-new model which may be built alongside the next Fiat Punto, in Italy.

The 2013-2014 period is very important for Mazda, as they will be launching an all-new 3, and since the current model has already set the bar quite high for the class, at least in terms of driving dynamics and emotional attachment, thanks to its excellent Ford Focus-derived chassis and aggressive styling, they need to keep their focus (no pun intended) and bring out a car which builds on the old mode’s qualities, in order to woo buyers away from more conventional offerings.

Also, considering the fact that Mazda is now integrating more and more of their SKYACTIV technology into more and more of their cars, future offerings will only get greener and more efficient, and with Mazda being Mazda, driving pleasure and quirky styling will always be at the top of the priorities list as well.
