Although Daimler decided to bring the curtain down on Maybach last year, a recent report claims there’s a “high probability” the luxury brand will return to name one of the long wheelbase versions of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
To make things less confusing, the all-new S-Class is scheduled to gain two long wheelbase version, casually known as the “extra-long wheelbase” and the “Pullman”. According to Auto Bild, the Maybach name will likely be assigned to the extra-long wheelbase version, which will be around 330 mm (13 inches) longer that the regular S-Class and sport a 2+2 seating configuration.
There’s no actual info on when the Mercedes-Benz S-Class extra-long will be unveiled, but rumors say it could happen as soon as March 2014, at the Geneva Motor Show. One thing’s for sure, the extra-long wheelbase S-Class will be sold for the 2015 model year.
