After Stefano Domenicali called it quits with the Scuderia in April, the team principal role was taken by one Marco Mattiacci. It was a very controversial move, blamed by a lot of die-hard Tifosi, but even Mattiacci had to make way for Maurizio Arrivabene.
Let’s recap things a little - Domenicali, a man that took care of the Scuderia between the 2008 season and the beginning of the 2014 Formula One season, had to step down from its throne for Mattiacci, a guy that previously headed the Ferrari's US operations.

The only notable thing Mattiacci did during his short stay here was to strike a deal with Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, which will be wearing red overalls from 2015 onwards. Other than that, Mattiacci didn’t do anything remarkable.

Will Maurizio be able to cut the mustard and prepare the team for its first Constructors’ title since 2007?

Only time will tell. He comes to Ferrari from Philip Morris, which he joined in 1997 after a 20-year maketing career. Maurizio has been closely involved in a former partnership with the Scuderia. Arrivabene also represented all sponsors of the motorsport on the F1 Commission since 2010.

A lot of weight rides on this guy’s shoulders, but if we’re to be frank, he’s more intimate with the sport than Marco Mattiacci, the previous Managing Director of Gestione Sportiva and Scuderia’s team principal.

“We decided to appoint Maurizio Arrivabene because, at this historic moment in time for the Scuderia and for Formula 1, we need a person with a thorough understanding not just of Ferrari but also of the governance mechanisms and requirements of the sport,” commented Ferrari Chairman Sergio Marchionne.
