Recent times have seen a new standard being introduced to the supercar world, one that involves shorter life cycles and partially new replacements rather than 100% newcomers that land after a longer wait. McLaren and Ferrari are the driving force behind this trend, while Porsche and Lamborghini seems to stick to their traditional uber-serious mid-cycle refresh model. Well, we are now here to focus on the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, which doesn't exactly come easy.
Frankly, V8 Prancing Horses have arrived in rapid succession once the 458 was retired back in 2015 (here's a review of the Speciale, you nostalgics). So while the 488 Pista is more than impressive, the fact that the non-special F8 Tributo packs a similar engine spec or the thousand-horsepower status of the even newer SF90 Stradale can make it difficult to keep the Pista under the spotlights.
Thankfully, though, owners still seem to be taking delivery of Pista Spiders, which obviously leads to some rather eye-catching configurations surfacing online (thank you, social media).
And the Pista Spider that brought us here is an example as good as any, with this Italian exotic having been spotted in Brussels, at least if we pay attention to the tags of the Instagram post showcasing the vehicle.
The track-savvy toy comes dressed in matte black and while you'll find this color on your neighbor's 1990s BMW as a wrap, it unsurprisingly comes in a totally different form when covering the aero-dictated styling of this Prancing Horse.
Then we have the red details, which have the power to keep one staring at the 720 horsepower machine for quite a while, with these including elements such as the top-section stripes or the driver's seat - note that the one riding shotgun has to make due with a black seat. Who knows? Perhaps the buyer couldn't get his hands on a Monza SP1 (you know, the one-seater) and had to settle for a Pista...
However, the wind doesn't discriminate, so folding the metal roof and mixing the go-fast thrills of the twin-turbo V8 supercar with those delivered by the elements is something both occupants can enjoy.
