Launched in July 2007, the project took Fourdin and his team 13 months and 1,500 hours of work to complete. Mind you, none of them are engineers. The indistinctive, low-performance car was transformed to such a degree it can now take on purpose built racers, such as the Corvette or Camaro.
Its usual series built 1.0l engine could propel the car from naught to 60 in no less than 21.9 seconds. Bad, you say? Awful, we tell you. But now, thanks to the 7.0l V8 Corvette Z06 engine, it can reach sixty in... How much? Haven't guessed yet? 3.7 seconds. And it has a terminal velocity of 162 mph (260 km/h)!
This is, at least, the engine's top speed. There is no one to say the body of the car can keep up, as no details of its track performance were released. Also, no official statement of how much money went into this project was made public.
"The realization of this project is the result of brains, passion and time. We did it without engineers and without computers, but as a close group of friends with a lot of passion for motorsport. The detail level of the car is therefore absolute. After more than 1 500 hours of work, we are proud of the result," Yves Fourdin was quoted as saying by autoblog.nl.
Brains, indeed. No doubt about it, Fourdin and his team have plenty of it. Why did they use it to create a somewhat good looking, high power, absolutely useless vehicle is another matter entirely. Maybe to prove it can be done. Consider it proved and move on, Yves!
