This isn't news; it's gossip. But I find it quite interesting, so some of our readers might think it's cool as well. A few years ago, the CarBuyer channel was one of the most popular because the Youtube people thought short videos were the best thing since French toast. Even their simplest reviews could reach up to a million views.
But Internet money has lost some of its value, resulting in more and more journalists starting their own business or going freelance. Rebecca Jackson, the petite female half of CarBuyer started Telegraph Cars a few months ago. And now, we've discovered that Mat Matson is working for Carwow.
These Brits want us to write their name carwow, like smart. We won't, but we can tel you that we like their website. Not only that, but their renderings are among the most creative on the net, so we're glad our Mat found a new family of like-minded people to work with.
There's a bit of the stuff we liked about CarBuyer left, but Carwow is something else. For example, some of their videos are shot with a 360-degree camera. Comparison videos are also standard, and if you've ever tried to pick between a Kia and a Hyundai, you'll know just how useful those are.
The practicality and infotainment system tests are reviewed separately. Will this be enough to stand out on a content-rich Youtube? Only time will tell.
For now, we're going to focus on the comparison he filmed for the Audi A4, Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Jaguar XE.
The funny thing about changing jobs is that you often get to do the same review twice, as some of our freelance colleagues tell us. Mat was one of the first Brits to release a review of the new A4 back in July 2015. In August that year, he also took to the road in the C-Class and the BMW 3 Series.
