Massa: Sauber Struggle Will Help Me!

Ferrari are definitely searching for their perfect tempo this season, as the Scuderia is yet to win a point after the first 2 races. While acknowledging the difficult times his team is going through, Felipe Massa believes the challenge of rising from the ashes and become competitive once again will only help him in the long-term.

The Brazilian admitted Ferrari are not in a desirable place right now but feels he is the right driver to boost his team's performances. Before joining the Scuderia in 2006, Massa had some difficult times driving for independent team Sauber (at the time) and knows how it's like to struggle for points. Having been there, he believes he can bring an important contribution to Ferrari's comeback.

“Many people at the Scuderia have only known successful times, so maybe I can understand better than them what it means to struggle,” said the 2008 vice-champion ahead of the Shanghai race this weekend.

“But I think a top team having a difficult season is better equipped to recover, so I am hopeful we can put this bad start to the year behind us and get back on the right road. At the moment, we are not very good in many aspects of what we are doing, but it is also true we have very good people within the race team and back in Maranello, so we know we can react, improve and change some details,” added Massa.

The first important move made by Ferrari ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix was replacing team manager Luca Baldisserri with former Kimi Raikkonen race engineer and current chief engineer Chris Dyer. Also, the Scuderia will debut some new aerodynamic changes at Shanghai, as the F60 is to feature revised front wing & the front wheel flanges and modified turning vanes.
