Massa Might Return at Monza

Luca Badoer might not enjoy his driving the Ferrari F60 in Formula One too much, as the latest reports regarding Felipe Massa's medical conditions are getting more optimistic by the day. Although it was initially believed the Brazilian driver will miss out on the entire 2009 season, it is now rumored that he might return to F1 action from as early as the Italian Grand Prix, at Monza.

Eddie Jordan, the eccentric former Formula One boss, said he would not rule out Massa's return by Monza, scheduled on September 13th. One month is a long way to go and, considering the Brazilian's quick recovery so far, it won't be such a long shot to consider him for the second Ferrari seat.

Massa has, thank goodness, made a huge recovery. Don't be surprised if he returns at Monza,” the 61-year old Ulsterman was quoted as saying to British broadcaster BBC radio, during their TalkSport programme.

I’m glad that he is recovering so well: he’s extremely motivated, although he can’t prepare in such an intense way as he wants, because the doctors still don’t allow it,” added Michael Schumacher in his press conference yesterday, as he admitted he speaks often with Massa since the accident in Hungary.

If not Massa, than Schumacher himself might continue to be a solution for Ferrari in their home grand prix, as the 40-year old is not completely out of the equation. As a matter of fact, the German avoided to give a clear verdict on his potential comeback, limiting himself only at saying “I'm not thinking of that right now”. Obviously, the last two words of that statement are the most important.

I would not rule out a comeback for Michael totally. Perhaps next year, if he is able to recover from his injuries completely,” agreed former F1 driver Hans-Joachim Stuck.
