Massa: McLaren and Red Bull, Main Rivals for 2010

Prior to his leaving for Brazil to spent the Christmas holidays with his family and friends, Felipe Massa gave one last interview for the Italian media regarding his expectations for the 2010 Formula One season. The Brazilian was obviously asked about his and Ferrari's rivals for the next season, and he had no hesitation naming Red Bull and McLaren as his main targets.

McLaren and Red Bull are the two I expect most from. The British teams are very strong and with Hamilton and Button they have a truly competitive team. Red Bull was the best team in the second half of the last championship,” said Massa in an interview with La Repubblica earlier this week.

However, with the rumors about his former teammate Michael Schumacher potentially coming back to F1 racing with Mercedes GP, Massa reckons that the Brackley based team will also have a saying in the title fight next season. Even without Schu, the team – now benefiting from factory support from the German car maker – will likely make a title effort next year, argued Massa.

But the old Brawn team can do very well as well - it's the team which won the championship and now that it's been acquired by Mercedes it can become a top level team, able to reassert itself year after year,” added the Brazilian driver.

Massa recently concluded a testing session on a 2-year old Ferrari at the Mugello circuit, where he got to drive the F2007 for about 90 laps prior to the beginning of the preparations for the 2009 season. This was his second test with Ferrari after his accident in the Hungarian Grand Prix, which sidelined him for the second part of the 2009 season.
