Massa Checks Into Brazilian Hospital

Felipe Massa couldn't enjoy his time out of the hospital on Monday, as he was immediately checked into a new facility, this time in Sao Paolo, following his flight from Hungary a day before.

The Brazilian driver flew from Budapest to Brazil on Sunday afternoon – via a private jet – after his medical situation improved considerably during the course of last week. Soon after he suffered a crash during the qualifying session of the Hungarian GP, he was taken to the AEK hospital, where he underwent an emergency surgery for serious head injuries.

As he was cleared out for leaving the Hungarian hospital late last week, Massa decided to come home and conduct some further tests at Albert Einstein Hospital, before returning to Europe for the start of his recuperation period. According to AFP news agency, it seems the Ferrari driver was taken directly to the hospital, from the airport.

As another couple of media reports in Brazil revealed Massa walked on his own when entering the hospital, his father Luiz Antonio also confirmed his son's stay in the hospital will not be long-term. According to him, Massa will only undergo a series of tests and check-ups.

Later this week, Massa is expected to fly back to Europe, in France, in order to check into the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris. As reported by the GMM news agency last week, the Brazilian will undergo a recovery treatment under the close watch of French orthopedic surgeon and FIA doctor Gerard Saillant, the very doctor who also treated Michael Schumacher and Ronaldo for injuries in the past.
