Massa Blasts Dirty-Game Accusations

Felipe Massa will not be intimidated ahead of the most important race of his life. The Brazilian hit back after Eddie Jordan advised Hamilton to take Massa out of the race should such a move secure him a maiden title in Formula 1. When asked about Jordan's comments earlier this week, Massa insisted that one shouldn't pay attention to what a 'former' F1 owner has to say on the title fight this year.

“Since he hold his team, Eddie Jordan had nothing to do with Formula 1 except for what he says in the press. Playing dirty has never been part of my game. I don't want anything to do with it,” said Massa according to local newspaper Globoesporte. The Brazilian also argued that racing in front of a home crowd will only motivate him more in his title fight with Lewis Hamilton.

Jordan insisted earlier this week that his McLaren countryman should do whatever it takes to secure a maiden F1 title after his 2007 failure. The former F1 owner argued that Massa pulled off the same maneuver on his rival during the Japanese Grand Prix, when he tried to force Hamilton out of the race.

“People may not like me for saying this, but if Massa tries to take him out as he did in Japan in order to steal the title then Lewis has to be ready for it. If he tries that on then Lewis has to turn his wheel into Massa to ensure he does not finish the race either - he has to take his wheel off,” said Jordan in an interview for British newspaper Daily Express.

Hamilton is currently leading the drivers classification holding a 7-point advantage over Massa before the season finale. The Brit only needs 5th place or better at Interlagos to secure the F1 title, while Massa's only option is going for the win. Should the Brazilian finish 3rd or worst – or even fail to finish the race – Hamilton doesn't need to score any points in Brazil.

Nevertheless, Massa insisted that his thought are only focused on winning the Sunday race: “The only thing on my mind is winning the race. The rest does not depend on me. If I am champion, it will be a dream come true. If not, that's ok, I will try again next year”. He even promised to give up his habit of wearing the same underpants on Sunday after previously clinching pole on Saturday: “Who know, maybe if I am champion it will be time to retire them”.
