Residents in Blackburn, Lancashire in the UK, witnessed a scene like in the movies over the weekend, when several thugs, some of them wearing masks, took baseball bats and other objects to a silver BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe stuck in traffic.
The scene was captured on camera (as these things tend to be) and then the video was uploaded to social media, where it caused quite a controversy. The police are already investigating the case, calling this a “targeted attack.”

You can see the video of the attack at the bottom of the page. What you can’t see is that the driver was with his 5-year-old son at the time. That means that both driver and a child were stuck in the car while the thugs kept smashing it to pieces.

The car was stuck in traffic at the time, and it’s clear from the video that the driver is desperate to move away. Even so, the thugs are even more determined than he is, so in a matter of seconds, they smash his windshield and windows, the mirrors and do considerable damage to the car.

The Lancashire Constabulary confirms for the media that both driver and his son were only mildly injured in the incident, and stresses that they’re still looking for the people responsible for this. For the time being, police have in custody a 19-year-old man from Blackburn, who’s been charged with affray (public brawling), the Mirror says.

“Police were called at about 6.20pm yesterday to reports that a number of men with weapons were attacking a BMW car in the Queen’s Park Road area of the town,” a statement from the the Lancashire Constabulary reads.

"The driver and his five-year-old son both received minor injuries during the incident which is being treated as a targeted attack. One man, aged 19, from Blackburn was later arrested on suspicion of Affray. Inquiries are ongoing to locate a number of other men,” the statement adds.

Detective Sergeant Rob Trickett, of Blackburn CID, urges anyone with information on the attack to come forward, adding that it’s “terrifying” to think what the child must have been through while it was happening.
