Fiat Group CEO Sergio Marchionne must have the most new cars to consider of all the top execs right now. With Fiat and Chrysler as main targets of the media, it’s all to easy to forget about the reinvention of the Maserati brand that’s coming our way in the next couple of years.
German publication AutoBild has the inside scoop on the subject. We’ve already talked about the new Quattroporte that will go straight past large into huge. This will be the flagship of the range, but to ensure they get the increased global sales they’ve always wanted, a brand new, more compact sedan will also be launched. This will also get a diesel V6 engine with over 300 horsepower, making it the first Maserati to run of diesel.
The car is reportedly called the Maseratina (sounds like an internal non-official name) and will be launched in 2013. This car is going to act as a direct rival to the BMW 5-Series and Jaguar XF.
If you had your heart set on an SUV with Italian badging, you’ll have to wait until 2014, when the Kubang concept will see the light of production. This will reportedly have a 500 horsepower engine under its bonnet, which sound terribly exciting.
The last new Maserti is the fresh GranTurismo, coming together with the GranCoupe in 2015.
